tunesday | underground resistance w/ yolanda – your time is up

detroit´s musical collective underground resistance was started by jeff mills and mad mike banks during the late 1980´s with an almost strictly diy business philosophy and an oppositional, militaristic ethos. claude young, robert hood, dj rolando and buzz goree among many others would round out the collective over the years with alternating members.

although underground resistance is primary associated with techno, their first release in 1990 “your time is up”, which features vocals by another members of the house member yolanda reynolds, was way more housier than somebody would expect. written by mike banks, a former studio bass player who played with parliament / funkadelic among others, jeff mills and yolanda, the three created a house classic. made in detroit.
