tunesday | cultural vibe – ma foom bey

winston michael jones created cultural vibe in the mid 80´s and its first release “ma foom bey” on new york´s legendary easy street records became one of the biggest and most successful dance track in 1986.

the song was edited and popularized by no other than tony humphries and soon became a huge club hit in new york city and new jersey due to his residency at club zanzibar and hosting the kiss fm mastermix dance party on saturdays. while its african sounding vocal chants still seem to be a fantasy language it´s all about the raw deep groove with it´s one of a kind bassline. a timeless classic!
